SP METHOD OPENS NEW PERSPECTIVES FOR REACTIVE TRANSPORT MONITORING

I monitored calcite dissolution and precipitation using the self-potential (SP) method in a column packed with calcite grains. I obtained clear SP signatures due to reactive transport that generates ionic concentration gradients. With a new workflow coupled with 1-D reactive transport simulations, I quantify the electro-diffusive contribution of SP signal for multiple ionic species, and I locate the reactive zone.
